Acquisition: Debut novella by Kelsey Socha

Lanternfish Press is pleased to announce the acquisition of Kelsey Socha's debut novella, working title Antarctica and You, for publication in Fall 2022.

Two stoic lobstermen harboring a secret affection. A town in the desert where the houses and machines are built from the exoskeletons of scorpions; their architect is lonely. A girl painfully growing into new wings. The tender storylines of four queer relationships intertwine, narrated by a flock of crows and an untidy vulture with no respect for the fourth wall. From the crows’ perspective, each love story becomes, in its own way, the end of a world—and the beginning of a new one.

Kelsey Socha once wrote and staged a performance piece about lobsters before subsequently quitting theatre to become a librarian. She is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, but now lives in Western Massachusetts with her wife and two cats. This is her first book.
