Summer 2026 Publishing Internship

Accepting applications February 1-28, 2026

Lanternfish Press is open to applications for the 2026 Summer Publishing Internship, a position for students up to 35 hours per week overseen by the Marketing & Sales Director.

The publishing internship at Lanternfish Press is a structured, introductory internship intended for students with no prior experience in the publishing industry. Interns will learn about each major department in our company—editorial, production, marketing, and sales—and complete a project of their choice in their area of greatest interest.

During the publishing internship, interns will:

  • Get to know professionals in different departments of the company and ask questions during one-on-one lunch and learns

  • Receive trainings and informational sessions on different topics in publishing

  • Shadow employees during a variety of tasks

Interns are responsible for:

  • Preparing weekly time sheets to submit to their supervisor

  • Take notes during meetings as needed

  • Submit deliverables related to departmental trainings

Deliverables are designed to result in a completed portfolio that may be used for future internship or job applications after this internship is complete. The intern’s weekly workload will be divided into approximate thirds: one third of hours dedicated to marketing, one third to editorial, and one third to all other tasks, trainings, and work; workload division may be adjusted based on the intern’s area of interest.

This internship is an unpaid opportunity. Students MUST be eligible for academic credit at their college or university to participate in this internship.

This internship is intended to be a maximum of 13 weeks between June 1, 2026 and August 31, 2026 with scheduled office closures for Juneteenth and Independence Day. The minimum number of weeks is directed by your school’s internship credit requirements. If you require any adjustments to this schedule to meet academic requirements or for any other reason, please include that in your cover letter.

Eligibility

  • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university in the US or a US territory.

  • Must be able to provide either documentation or a link to documentation to their school’s internship credit requirements, which may include the contact information for their school’s internship coordinator.

  • Serious interest in publishing as a career, with a preference for students enrolled in programs such as English, communication, or writing.

  • Strong written communication skills, particularly via email.

This internship may be conducted as fully remote, but must be synchronous during our regular business hours. Students residing in the Philadelphia metro area may receive additional opportunities to meet in-person.
