Acquisition: Debut horror novel by Hayden Casey
Lanternfish Press is pleased to announce the acquisition of Hayden Casey’s debut novel, A Harvest of Furies, for publication in Fall-Winter 2025.
Teenage siblings Orrie and Emma grew up surrounded by stories saying their family has been cursed for centuries. Symptoms of that curse have taken root in recent years—their father, Aggie, is stolen away to serve in an endless war; their mother, Cleo, is lost in the work of their family farm and in the grip of a furtive affair. In Aggie’s absence, the house has become a pressure cooker, each of its members caught in a vicious current of bad habits, lost to their own longings. Aggie’s return—as a changed man, hollowed out by unspeakable years at war—will act as a mirror, exposing the family’s buried tensions and secrets.
Told by Orrie, Emma, and a host of other voices—some living, some dead—A Harvest of Furies explores the dynamics and impending demise of a family eager to keep their conflicts beneath the visible surface. But pressure is building, as Orrie and Emma are about to learn: the curse, they worry, is about to rear its head again. And the family’s rumored rot may reach further than any of them realizes.
