Acquisition: New literary fiction by VAMPIRE GIDEON author Andrew Katz

Lanternfish Press is pleased to announce the acquisition of Andrew Katz’s second novel, My Therapist Says This Grief Journal Is a Good Idea, for publication in Spring 2025.

Kyle Jr.—”KJ”—grew up in a dysfunctional family, and that’s an understatement. When the dysfunction culminates in his father’s tragic suicide, he’s faced with two choices: succumb to the trauma of his past, or tell the story and try to find peace. He chooses the latter path—peppering it with plenty of sarcasm, excerpts from sweary, punny high-school short stories, and fourth-wall-breaking asides. Through all the bravado and swagger, a portrait emerges of a young man confronting a dark past with genuine compassion and keen insight—determined to reconcile with its legacy, and to survive.

Andrew Katz is an avid reader and writer, and thinks that the written word is a huge boon for people’s mental health whether they plan to do anything with their personal writing or not. He is a dog dad, carpenter, and disc golfer. He thinks there are other things about him that might be interesting but is trying to employ brevity here. His first novel, The Vampire Gideon’s Suicide Hotline and Halfway House for Orphaned Girls, was published by Lanternfish Press in 2018.
